Calcite Mines and Palm Wash

Calcite Mines:

Gee whiz, another geological oddity.

It's amazing all of the things that you can do with nothing but sandstone.

Palm Wash

In this particular wash, there are many places where you can touch both sides of the canyon, even though the top is many yards over your head.

This might be an old Indian foot path. I say this based on a description I read about the park before leaving for this trip. It certainly wouldn't surprise me to find this to be true. If you made a smiley face out of rocks, it would still be there a hundred years from now (assuming the smiley face wasn't made in a wash).

Of course, it might also be some other weird desert feature.
