I must be getting "west"

As I climbed out of my tent I muttered to myself, "I hope that train is gone." I had camped near a coal burning power station, and a coal train had spent most of the early morning slowly (but not quietly) creeping past the tent. That wasn't too big a deal, but the train was between me and the road. It was gone, but as soon as I hit the road another showed up to take its place. I'm glad I left when I did.

Oh, and it rained again during the night. But I was better prepared this time.

Today I traveled east and south. A strong wind blew from the west and north. The weather was dry and the temperature stayed in the 70s. It was almost like cheating. If it weren't for the very hilly River Road running along the Missouri River valley between Hensler and Bismarck I might not have had to work at all.

I passed some sort of motocross rally with dozens and dozens of dirt bikes. And a bit later a horse rider meetup. I wonder which group saw the most injuries for the day?

I'm seeing more "out west" critters. Of course yesterday I photographed (badly) pronghorn antelope. I'm not 100% sure, but today I think I spotted a ocellated turkey hen running away up a ridge. A half dozen mule deer hopped away from me like Pepe Le Pew. And I found a small family of prairie dogs behind a chinese buffet.

I'm now in Bismarck where I'll spend most of the rest of the week. I'll stay here until Friday. I just checked the weather. Its not supposed to rain again...until Friday.
