Mesa Verde National Park

2011-12-10

tl;dr: I visited Mesa Verde National Park. They don't get many visitors in the Winter. Just the way I like it.

I was passing through so I decided to visit Mesa Verde National Park. The park was basically empty of people which is always nice. I took the ranger tour of Spruce Tree House, and it was just me and another guy on the tour. I later drove a loop looking at the other structures and I never met another visitor.

I could write up a bunch on Mesa Verde, but just Google it. I did learn a couple of things: Most of the structures are only about 800 years old. I always thought they were older. Also, the people living there didn't just "disappear." That's a myth. They simply moved south.

The drive to and from Mesa Verde is a bit harrowing. I made a couple of passenger seat vancam videos. Because I could. Both are pretty boring, so I don't recommend watching them.
