Fall Creek Falls

2012-09-16

tl;dr: Back on the road again. More for work than play. First Stop: Fall Creek Falls State Park in Tennessee.

I spent a whole month in Wisconsin fixing up a new house. It was a lot of work. And when it was finally finished, I left. This time my job beckons me.

But my first stop is in Spenser, Tennessee, where folks actually talk about moonshine, DWIs are given out like good-grade stars, and logging is both big business and dangerous. I find myself at the Way Inn, which along with the adjacent store and gas station (only store for a long, long ways) is owned by a once-airforce wilderness survival instructor. This guy is very nice, but very intense. He said he moved his family here to be near Atlanta, but I wonder if it has more to do with "we make our own law here."

After a week of careful packing I managed to forget my bicycling shoes. My bicycle has clipless peddles, so any other shoe is sort of ackward. Oh well. I did take a quick loop around on the roads, but it looks like I'll be hiking around Fall Creek Falls State Park rather than bicycling. Fall Creek Falls has waterfalls and people. A lot of people. It's something to see, though. Look, pictures.

This trip, I'm driving again. So as much as everybody hates it, here is more vancam!
