Hermann to Jefferson City

2014-05-01

tl;dr: I peddled 50 miles from Hermann to Jefferson City in the cold.

Not sure what I was thinking. The forecast called for low 50s, wind, clouds, and maybe a bit of rain. I was chomping at the bit to hit the trail again, so I rationalized that this weather was good enough.

It was not.

I almost turned back within the first ten miles, but decided to push on. I quickly realized it would be too cold to even camp, because all the clothes that I was wearing (which is just about all my clothes) were already damp with sweat. I decided I would push through to Jefferson City and get a hotel room.

It was a challenging ride, made worse because I didn't really take a good break for the whole fifty miles, but I made it. Then Jefferson City handed me a series of stupid-steep hills as I made my way into its bowels to find a hotel.

The weather is supposed to be decent the rest of the weekend.

somehow the panorama software made this cliff look MUCH smaller
