Caddo National Grasslands

2014-05-29

tl;dr: I biked through Caddo National forest I mean Grasslands. It rained some.

After staying in Paris (the land of stray cats and muscle cars) for four days, I finally visited the Eiffel Tower. Look, I took a picture.

While I was taking a picture of corn (because corn in Texas), a truck pulled up and a boy handed me a bottle of water while his grandpa waved. I didn't really need water, yet, but I accepted, anyway.

I ate lunch at an extremely busy no-name gas station/cafe in Tiger Town. I am still in ball-cap Texas.

I've been to the Caddo National Grasslands before. I once visited in hopes of seeing the rolling grasslands of yore. My previous disappointment prepared me for the endless trees. The powers that be should rename this place.

A couple of times today I found myself biking through the rain. This wasn't so bad until the rain started washing sweat into my eyes. Almost blinded me. My shoes and socks never did dry out. I think I could use some Lysol.

Some of the small towns I rolled through were very run-down, with the old downtown basically abandoned.

I tried to continue my hobby of counting roadkill, but it got boring after so many armadillos.

Setting up camp was another race against the mosquitoes. I think I found a good spot, though.
