Just gravel roads

tl;dr: I skipped the highway and took gravel farm roads.

Not much to report today. After breakfast in North Bend, I headed south away from Highway 30. This brought me into an endless grid of gravel farm roads. Biking was a bit slow, and a good stiff wind hampered me, but at least I wasn't on the highway.

At one point I heard a bang that made me flinch. That sounded like a gunshot. I looked toward the farm I was passing. A kid was aiming a gun upward. I guess he was shooting at birds.

I thought about camping next to an abandoned house. There was plenty of cover, but the place just gave me the creeps, so I moved on and found a spot right next to the road by a grain silo. These roads are so remote I'm not likely to be bothered here.

North Bend is pointing out that I'm just getting started in Nebraska.

crossing the Platte River

I biked through a lot of this today.

And this.

Abie tractors

downtown Bruno is a bit dead

lunch in David City

I thought this was a big rock. It isn't. It is soft. I don't know what it is.

Biked through this.

And more of this.

There are a lot of weeds around here.

Biked through some of this.

I would go nuts living here.

The trailer on this tractor can lift up in the air high enough to dump right into the truck.

not so sneaky camping
