Cathedral Gorge State Park

2016-10-11

tl;dr: I stayed an extra day in Enterprise before traveling into Nevada to visit Cathedral Gorge State Park.

Yesterday, I climbed to 6150 feet and then descended into Enterprise, Utah as the sun was coming up. I ate at Verla's Country Cafe. Verla servers A LOT of food for cheap. It is good, too. Across the road was an inexpensive motel. I am lazy, so I checked in early and spent the rest of the day organizing pictures and finally getting a shower and being more lazy. The motel is pretty nice for the price.

This morning, I ate breakfast at Verla's again. I definitely ordered too much.

I headed west, once again finding myself in the Dixie National Forest. There were three ravens dead beside the road. Funny all three should just up and die like that. I suspect fowl play.

I visited Cathedral Gorge State Park. This park is small, but it is definitely worth a visit. The main attraction is its "caves", which are really very narrow canyons. Many are forty feet deep or more and I had to turn sideways just to walk through them. I attempted to take pictures, but it was difficult to capture the dimensions of these caves. Go and see them for yourself.

The highways I am biking on now have a posted speed limit of 70 mph. Fun. Fortunately I was soon back on gravel.

I camped near Bristol Pass on Nevada Public lands.

Over 100 miles until next town if I stay on Highway 93.

I lost two bolts holding my panniers together. I don't have spares.
