Stirling Point

2016-12-07

tl;dr: I visited Stirling Point. It wasn't the southern-most point on the south island.

As usual I was packed up and on the road before sunrise. I picked up two girls backpacking their way into Te Anue. They had had a rough night as their camping location was inspected and they weren't supposed to be camping there.

I spent much of the day driving to Invercargill where I got a room at the Karon Court Backpackers. A German girl, Ronja, who had just arrived was hoping to hitchhike down to Stirling Point, but I was headed there anyway, so I drove her down there and we hiked around the bluff. It wasn't too interesting. Both of us thought that this was the south island's southern-most point. Both of us were wrong. Tomorrow we will head to Slope Point, the south island's actual southern-most point.

Other than that today was pretty boring.

Coke. $2.29 for 2.25 liter. $3.05 for 1.5 liter. $4 for 0.5 liter. Makes no sense.
