2012-06-19 tl;dr: I am now subject to tides. And ash from the sky. And pigs. Hurray, I have current again! Wait. It's going the wrong way. Awesome. I'm now subject to tides, and I've managed to time my trip to perfectly coincide with an incoming tide during the day. That's slowing me down a little.Every day now seems to bring even more remoteness. I saw maybe a half-dozen fisherman, and those were all in the first half of the day. If it weren't for the towboats I'd have this river all to myself now. For much of the day ash rained from the sky. Usually not a good sign. What is that I hear, a hummingbird? Nope, just a big wild sow grunting along the beach near my tent. Oddly enough, those two things sound quite similar. |
