Steinhatchee

tl;dr: I am sick of sailing, so I stopped in Steinhatchee where scallops are a big deal.

I have come to the conclusion that I hate sailing. But because I'm a glutton for punishment, maybe I'll try it again in a few years. In a real sailboat. With autopilot. And a bed.

After spending the entire morning fighting wind and tide, I covered a paltry thirteen miles and ended up in Steinhatchee. I was hoping to make it to Cedar Key. But I am so entirely sick of sailing that I will stop here and pay Steinhatchee's scallop-season prices.

Scallops are a big deal here in Steinhatchee. Sort of like cheese in Monroe, or crayfish in Baton Rouge, or lobster in Maine, or pizza in New York. To be honest, I had never exercised the curiosity to discover what a scallop even was before now. I thought it was some sort of small fish. It's more of a clam.

The water here tastes of sulfur. Interestingly, a slice of lemon goes a long way toward negating it.
